About Ramp Your Voice!

Ramp Your Voice! is the brainchild movement of Vilissa Thompson, LMSW, a macro-minded social worker who is on a mission to educate and inform the public, political figures, and key stakeholders about the plight of people with disabilities, especially Black women/femmes with disabilities, in America.

She uses Ramp Your Voice! (RYV! for short) as a way to spotlight the issues and barriers of disabled people, as well as create effective social and political changes to ensure that all people have the ability to succeed and prosper, regardless of their ability, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, religion, socioeconomic status, educational level, or place of origin.

EMPOWER. INFORM. EDUCATE.

Ramp Your Voice! encapsulates the E.I.E. philosophy - Empower. Inform. Educate.  Since its inception, Vilissa has embodied this philosophy through her speaking engagements; passionate writings for news outlets like Prism, The Nation and Rewire; and providing consultations and trainings to a wide range of entities -  for-profits, non-profits, Fortune 500 companies, faith institutions, colleges and universities, youth groups, etc.  Her expertise is highly sought after and retained due to her over a decade worth of knowledge base, and people and community centered focus.

To know Ramp Your Voice! is to receive a sizable glimpse into who Vilissa is - a community-focused social worker who aims to share the truth about how the world actually works for those whose stories go unnoticed.  Vilissa shines a bright light on the narratives that society has forgotten, and Ramp Your Voice! has been her way of ensuring that the “forgetfulness” ends, once and for all
