Amaranthia Sepia & Claire Jones

Claire Jones and her daughter, Amaranthia Sepia, are a Black, invisibly disabled mother-daughter duo who are the co-founders of the grassroots project (not a non-profit!) Sista Creatives Rising (SCR). SCR’s mission is to help creative, marginalized women and marginalized genders gain accessibility & visibility in the arts to facilitate personal healing. We seek to strengthen our community by increasing the visibility of these artists through our virtual events, such as workshops, keynotes, and our virtual film event, “Art & Mind.” As a grassroots project founded by a Black-disabled duo, we ensure our work incorporates disability justice principles so all can enjoy it. We also compensate artists and fundraise during our Art & Mind events for our Sistas Uprising Fund to create microgrants for marginalized creatives.
